4 Katyusha Rockets Fall in Northern Israel
Old age facility hit by a Katyusha missle this morning in Nahariya.

January 8, 2009 / 12 Tevet 5769

Two years and four months after the Second Lebanon War, Israel’s northern residents woke up to the frightening sounds of air raid sirens and falling rockets. Once again, Israel’s north is under attack! At 7:38 AM, Thursday January 8, 2009, four Katyusha rockets landed in the Western Galilee area. Four people were injured and many more are suffering from trauma and shock.

The Jewish Agency provides services to thousands of vulnerable citizens living in this region. New immigrants, youth at risk, and disadvantaged families all rely on the Jewish Agency to help them navigate daily life and persevere through difficult and crisis conditions. Our staff and field professionals continue to monitor the situation, responding to any and all needs that may arise.
