| The Ra'anana Absorption Center has been the springboard for hundreds of new, college-educated immigrants to a successful life in Israel.
Hebrew/Ulpan Ulpan Sapir offers a unique opportunity for educated, ambitious young immigrants to Israel to network, study Hebrew, and prepare to embark on successful careers in the Jewish homeland.
The six-month program – which includes accommodations, intensive Hebrew-language instruction, cultural activities, and career counseling – is open to college-educated immigrants (singles or couples, without children) ages 22-35. Preference is given to medical professionals, attorneys, and accountants.
Ulpan Sapir offers a variety of important tools for acclimating to Israeli society:
- Intensive Hebrew-language courses at multiple levels (five hours per day, five days per week)
- Preparation for professional licensing examinations
- Personalized career counseling
- Ready-made social structure
- Travel around Israel
- Jewish and Israeli holiday celebrations
- Programs about Israeli culture and society
- Multi-cultural atmosphere
- Special emphasis on the needs of accountants, lawyers, and doctors
The program starts twice per year, in September and March.
Culture/Recreation Conveniently located next to the lively city center, olim can shop, as well as take part in the myriad of city-sponsored cultural events: indoor and outdoor concerts, art exhibits and holiday celebrations.
Within the Absorption Center, residents relax in the lounge, television, computer or recreation rooms, and may attend the regular lectures which acquaint them with Israeli culture, society and geography. Information evenings, holiday events, parties, hikes and sightseeing trips are organized by the Absorption Center staff and a synagogue is located on the Center premises. An emphasis is made to integrate new immigrants into Israeli society. Towards this end there are community and volunteer activities, participation in local activities and an ongoing connection with the Babait Beyahad program in which Israeli families are matched up with new immigrant families and singles offering support, friendship and social networking.
Children Parents are assisted in registering children in local kindergartens and educational frameworks and the Center staff works with children, parents and local schools to facilitate smooth integration for all children. In the afternoon hours, school age children participate in educational programs and a variety of after school activities held at the absorption center such as art classes, music and sports activities. They also receive assistance in homework, study and Hebrew language. These programs familiarize the children with the local language and norms and give them a head start in their successful integration.
