Location Located in the heart of the Sharon valley north of Tel Aviv, Kfar Saba has grown into a city of close to 90,000. Although very residential in character, with tree-lined streets and small parks, the city boasts one of the country's most elegant downtown malls and shops of every sort along its long and easily accessible commercial boulevard. Culturally self-sufficient, the municipality regularly sponsors a variety of music, theater and art programs for adults and children. The Sapir Absorption Center was initially established in 1973 by the Jewish Agency, as a first home for young adults from all over the world. The Center is actively involved in its local surroundings and maintains active ties with the local municipality, schools sports and voluntary organizations, youth movements, IDF units, banks and private organizations.
Accommodation The Absorption Center comprises 139 housing units in a central building with classrooms, a lounge and offices. The one-room apartments all have a kitchenette, bathroom, and include basic furniture - beds, table, chairs, a closet, desk and shelves. Central heating and hot water (small electric boilers for each apartment) are provided, residents pay for gas, electricity and water according to use*. Participants are required to provide their own personal items, such as linen, pillows and blankets. Residents make regular use of public telephones and the token-operated washers and driers. A computer room with PCs and internet access is available for the student’s use and individual internet connections may be arranged in dormitory rooms through local providers, at the oleh's own expense.
*Cost for gas, electricity and water is included in the rental fees for young adults on student programs or those receiving Student Authority assistance.
