Getting Started on Aliyah

The Jewish Agency for Israel and the Masorti/Conservative Movement in Israel are happy to assist you in your first steps in aliyah and successful absorption:

  • Project Coordinator to provide personal assistance and counseling in pre-Aliyah
  • Congregational volunteer to answer questions about the community and area
  • A warm welcome by the congregation including home hospitality, participation in community events and assistance with schools
  • Jewish Agency community coordinator to assist with the practical first steps
  • Employment coordinator to assist in finding employment

Let's get started:

  1. "Choose your congregation" and learn about the community
  2. Think which congregation most meets your needs
  3. Contact Project Coordinator Zvia Shelly at zvias@jafi.org to discuss the possible congregations
  4. Zvia will make the connection between you and the congregation so you can learn first hand  about the community
  5. It is recommended to come on a pilot trip and personally meet the community
  6. Decide on where you would like to live
  7. Based on where you have decided to live, a Jewish Agency Community Coordinator will contact you and help you in your preparations
  8. Members of the congregation will welcome you on your arrival to Israel and assist in your klita (absorption)
  9. After completing Ulpan the Employment Coordinator will assist in finding employment
