Sweet Jeremy and the Costume

Yonelle and Analise Hayoun emigrated from France with their baby son Jeremy seven months ago, and settled in Petach Tikva.

Both found positions as software engineers in hi-tech companies, joined the Babait Beyachad program and were paired with Eti Amar and her family, also from Petach Tikva.

In early March Eti’s home was burned when a residential building in their hometown went up in flames.

Eti was hospitalized and had to undergo surgery.

The Babait Beyachad team was amazed to find that despite the terrible tragedy that had befallen Eti and her family, and despite her difficult medical condition, she managed to mumble that someone must call Analise and tell her that she is sorry that she didn’t get her the Purim costume she had promised to lend them for Jeremy. The costume was burned with the rest of the household items.

When the Babayit Beyachad staff informed Analise of the situation she immediately came to the hospital to visit Eti and didn’t stop praising her for her help in various fields, such as telling her how to pay for a car, how to find good childcare for Jeremy, etc.

In her simple and charming Hebrew, Analise said that “We didn’t feel any embarrassment from the first time we met them, because Eti and her family are such warm people, and Eti doesn’t stop talking…”

We wish Eti well and hope she returns home soon.
