 MDA Application Procedure

Below are instructions for applying to the MDA program.

  1. Click here to download the full application and medical form, print and fill out.
  2. Click here to inform program representatives of your interest in the program (required).
  3. After following step two you will be contacted by your local representative to set up an appointment.  Please bring the filled out application and medical form.
  4. Appointment with the Shaliach or Representative:
  • The purpose of the interview is to give the applicant information about the program, to assure that his/her expectations are appropriate and that he/she understands the challenges of the program, and to rate his/her Hebrew on a scale of 0-5 (5 being mother tongue, and 0 being no Hebrew at all. Applicants should have a basic level of Hebrew to participate in the program, at least level 3)
The interview (or most of it) should take place in Hebrew, during which the Shaliach should fill out the interview form in Hebrew. The Shaliach should then send it with the following to Tnuat Aliyah:
    • The application form
    • The medical form (signed and stamped by a physician)
    • Proof of having received at least 2 of the 3 Hepatitis B vaccinations.
    • 2 letters of recommendation from someone in the community/ professor/ employer.
    • A letter of intent
    • 2 passport photos.
    • A copy of their passport

Please fax the file to us as well to prevent mail delays.

  • Processing

After receiving the forms we will review them and decide whether or not to accept the applicant to the program. We take into consideration the recommendations of the Shaliach and the physician.

  • Acceptance

After deciding to accept the applicant we then send a letter to the participant notifying him/her that they were accepted to the program with a copy to the referring shaliach. We will also send him/her the program rules and regulations, a course schedule, a list of things to bring, a MDA “dictionary” and information on the absorption centers.

Please remember, participants in the MDA program are working on ambulances side by side with the Israeli staff and are treating patients daily. Some applicants may not be fit for this program. In such a case we will be happy to interest the applicant in another Israel program.

Examples of cases inappropriate for the program:

    1. Inability to carry a conversation in Hebrew.
    2. Age, under 18 or over 30
    3. Physical or mental condition disabling applicant from full physical activity/ treating patient sufficiently.
    4. Non independent personality/ lack of maturity
    5. Low concentration level/ severe learning disabilities
    6. Lack of funds for meals and transportation while in the country
    7. Any other disability that would not allow sufficient training of applicant and/or sufficient patient treatment in the ambulance service (blindness, deafness etc.)

  • Payment

The payment for the program will be made in Israel on the first day of the program only.
