Mandatory- For MDA (course & volunteering)

  1. Closed, comfortable shoes
  2. Wrist-watch with seconds, or second-hand
  3. T-Shirts with no rips or tears to wear under the MDA shirt
  4.  Long, solid color pants to wear on shifts
  5. Sweatshirts or long-sleeved shirts for chilly evenings
  6. Participants with long hair should bring a rubber-band or hair clip
    to make a ponytail while on duty

The above dress code is required on the training course as well.

Mandatory for Absorption Centers

  1.  All bedding:
    • Sheets
    • Pillow and pillow case
    • Blanket (A warm blanket is necessary in the winter) 
  2. Bath and hand towel
  3. 3-4 Plates
  4. 3-4 cups and or mugs
  5. Set of Silverware
  6. A pot and pan

Recommended

  1. Laundry Soap
  2. Sewing Kit
  3. A money belt to carry all money and valuables with you at all times
  4. Shower sandals (“flip flops”)

General - Mandatory

  1. Your Passport + a photocopy of your passport (to be kept separately)
  2. Money to cover the following expenses:
    • Local Bus pass for travel to and from MDA stations (Approximately 200 NIS a month)
    • Three meals a day while in Absorption Centers (During the course meals will be provided)
    • All personal expenses, including “emergency money” to be kept in a separate place
  3. Personal Sundries
  4. Sunscreen
  5. A hat or head covering (for trips and tours)
  6. Sunglasses
      • Do not bring large amounts of cash, or valuables of any kind.
      • Those who wear glasses or contact lenses should bring a second pair 
      •  Those who take prescription medicine should bring enough for the entire period as the insurance company does not cover pre-existing conditions.

    You will receive from Magen David Adom in Israel:

    1. 2 MDA uniform shirts 
    2. A MDA overseas program backpack
    3. In the winter – a jacket
