Mandatory- For MDA (course & volunteering)
- Closed, comfortable shoes
- Wrist-watch with seconds, or second-hand
- T-Shirts with no rips or tears to wear under the MDA shirt
- Long, solid color pants to wear on shifts
- Sweatshirts or long-sleeved shirts for chilly evenings
- Participants with long hair should bring a rubber-band or hair clip
to make a ponytail while on duty
The above dress code is required on the training course as well.
Mandatory for Absorption Centers
- All bedding:
- Sheets
- Pillow and pillow case
- Blanket (A warm blanket is necessary in the winter)
- Bath and hand towel
- 3-4 Plates
- 3-4 cups and or mugs
- Set of Silverware
- A pot and pan
Recommended
- Laundry Soap
- Sewing Kit
- A money belt to carry all money and valuables with you at all times
- Shower sandals (“flip flops”)
General - Mandatory
- Your Passport + a photocopy of your passport (to be kept separately)
- Money to cover the following expenses:
- Local Bus pass for travel to and from MDA stations (Approximately 200 NIS a month)
- Three meals a day while in Absorption Centers (During the course meals will be provided)
- All personal expenses, including “emergency money” to be kept in a separate place
- Personal Sundries
- Sunscreen
- A hat or head covering (for trips and tours)
- Sunglasses
- Do not bring large amounts of cash, or valuables of any kind.
- Those who wear glasses or contact lenses should bring a second pair
- Those who take prescription medicine should bring enough for the entire period as the insurance company does not cover pre-existing conditions.
You will receive from Magen David Adom in Israel:
- 2 MDA uniform shirts
- A MDA overseas program backpack
- In the winter – a jacket
