Interview with the Shaliach or Representative
The purpose of the interview is to give the applicant information about the program, to assure that his/her expectations are appropriate and that he/she understands the physical and mental difficulty of the program, and to rate his/her Hebrew on a scale of 0-5 (5 being mother tongue, and 0 being no Hebrew at all. Applicants must have a basic level of Hebrew to participate in the course, at least level 2)
The interview should take place in Hebrew, and the Shaliach should fill out the Hebrew interview form while speaking to the applicant. The Shaliach should then send the following to Tnuat Aliyah: the Hebrew interview form, the application form, the medical form (signed and stamped by a physician), a letter of recommendation from someone in the community, and 4 passport photos. At the same time, please fax the file to us as well to prevent mail delays.
-
Processing
After receiving the forms we will review them and decide whether or not to accept the applicant to the program. We depend on the recommendations of the Shaliach and the physician.
-
Acceptance
After deciding to accept the applicant we then send a letter to the participant notifying him/her that they were accepted to the program with a copy to the refering shaliach. Approximately 2 months before the beginning of the program we will also send him/her a course schedule, a list of things to bring, a Marva “dictionary” and a letter instructing them how to make payment and where to meet on the first day.
-
Participation Confirmation
All applicants must confirm their participation in the program between 1-2 weeks before the program starts. The places of applicants who do not confirm may be given to people on the stand-by list.
-
Payment
The payment for the program takes place in Israel on the first day of the program. Each participant must prepare $900.00 in cash in shekels on the first day. Checks, credit cards, or other forms of payment will not be accepted.
