Empowering Nurses To Promote A Healthy Lifestyle Among Women

Obesity, physical inactivity, poor dietary choices and smoking are the major modifiable risk factors for numerous chronic diseases. An alarming increase in the rates of overweight children and young adults in Israel warrants immediate, large scale action.

This project, launched by Isha and Hadassah, offers women professional guidance to enhance their health and well-being. The project trains nurses at Tipat Halav clinics (well-baby clinics) and equips them with theoretical and practical tools for promoting healthy nutrition and physical activity.

The close interaction of Tipat Halav nurses with all mothers of babies and young children in the community strategically positions them as key players in health promotion.

This 3-year project consists of a series of workshops taught by specialists from Hadassah Optimal Medical Center. The workshops include lectures on various aspects of nutrition and physical activity, along with experiential exercise and healthy cooking sessions.
