J-Land Evening With Gil Ilutowich, Ceo Of Compedia And Educators. 1000 Computer Packages Were Given Out For Free To All 1st Grade Students In Acco And Matte Asher

JAFI's Partnership 2000 - Western Galilee, together with Compedia, launched the Jland Project, at a festive event held at the Palm Beach Hotel in Acco.  Attending the ceremony were Regional Council director, Mr. Yehuda Shavit; regional council deputy directors; Partnership Chairwoman, Ms. Dalia Fireman; the chair and members of the Partnership 2000 education taskforce; education department managers and elementary school principals from Acco and Mateh Asher.

Jland is a computer software program that creates an interactive Jewish world, enabling any child to build himself a fascinating Jewish character, house and environment.

The program can teach him about Jewish history in a unique manner and enable him to create a safe virtual peer group with other children who play with this software, in similar Jewish communities in the US.  This software was developed by Compedia, thanks to the company's CEO, Mr. Gil Ilutowich's dream of connecting children of the Diaspora to Jewish values and the State of Israel and creating a link between them and Israeli children.

JAFI Partnership 2000 - Western Galilee together with Compedia CEO Gil Ilutowich, have presented 2000 computer packages as a gift - 1,000 were presented to each of the 1st graders in Acco and Mateh Asher and 1,000 to 1st graders in the Jewish schools in the Partnership communities in the central US

The Partnership's education taskforce is comprised of volunteer educators from Mateh Asher and Acco and is headed by Ms. Leah Haliva.  Its goal is to create a connection between the children and educators of the Western Galilee and their counterparts from the overseas communities.

The twinning classes project is one of the ways to achieve this goal.  As part of the project, classes in the Western Galilee and the communities study joint subjects, travel as part of reciprocal delegations and learn to get to know one another.

To date, 49 classes in the Western Galilee participate in this project.  In other words, hundreds of children participate in a variety of projects offered by the Partnership each year.
