Modernization with a look at the Future – Inaugurating Bezeq and Appleseeds Academy's Community Knowledge Center in Acco.

As part of their strategic cooperative framework, Bezeq and Appleseeds Academy, together with local city councils and other bodies, are establishing Community Knowledge Centers in several areas of Israel’s social and geographic periphery.

The mission of these information centers is to provide residents with personal and community advancing technological and social educational services, both in the center itself as well as other city or town locations. The establishment of these centers includes renovating the site, upgrading their computer laboratories and setting up a local PC support center.

The first Community Knowledge Center was inaugurated in Ramla last December and on May 16th, 2010, two days before the Jewish Festival of the First Fruits, they celebrated the gathering of their ‘first fruits’ – the launching of the Community Knowledge Center in Acco.

Ever since the establishment of the association Acco has been a core city for its activities. This is a mixed city that is successfully tapping wide circles of its population and playing a significant role in the personal growth of its residents and communities. Therefore, expanding the association’s activities in the city and establishing a Community Knowledge Center seemed only natural.

The Community Knowledge Center in Acco is located in the Beit Hyman Community Center with a financial investment of half a million shekels. The center includes computer classrooms where courses are held for the public, as well as a FIXIT laboratory that repairs and makes computers serviceable for community residents.

The center, whose renovation was made possible by Bezeq , is operated by Appleseeds Academy, the Acco Municipality and the Community Center Company.
