| FSU and Ethiopian-born immigrants join together at the Russian cultural evening in Nitzana |
All the students and staff at Nitzana were greatly entertained recently by an evening of Russian culture. The SELAH Science students excelled themselves, showing a remarkable command of Hebrew, considering they have only been in the country six months. They also taught those present, including the KEDMA Ethiopian new immigrants, key words in Russian such as privit, which means peace. Another treat was traditional Russian folk dancing including ethnic costume and authentic music as well as non-alcoholic Russian drinks and foods like kreplach. The SELAH students spoke about the countries they came from in the Former Soviet Union. The cultural evening was part of Nitzana's policy of encouraging social integration between the Ethiopian and FSU born students and Israeli volunteers.
